Aeroméxico – Mexico City to Toronto
Daily service from Mexico City will begin in May
Travelers between Mexico and central Canada will have another option come May 4, when Aeroméxico begins flying between Mexico City and Toronto. The Mexican airline announced yesterday it will offer daily service on the route with Boeing 737-700 aircraft seating 124 passengers.
Flights will leave Toronto at 8:30am and arrive in Mexico City at 12:35pm. From Mexico City they will depart at 1:06am, arriving in Toronto at 6:46am.
Toronto will be Aeroméxico’s second Canadian destination; it already flies into Montreal.
In other travel news, Mexico is forecast to become Latin America’s largest travel market. With relatively low online travel penetration and a population of more than 120 million, Mexico is a country “of great untrapped promise,” says a report by travel market research firm Phocuswright.
It says gross bookings last year totaled US $24.3 billion, making it the region’s second largest travel market. Globally, it is the 13th largest.
Mexico’s airports transported more than 55 million passengers last year.
Phocuswright said travel agents still book much of the leisure travel, “but the pendulum is swinging toward direct and online bookings.” This will create opportunities for online travel agencies and web-savvy suppliers, it says.
More than 80% of leisure travel is booked offline but online travel agencies are creating partnerships with traditional agencies to capture some of that business.
